Xcrawl Hero

Kill monsters on TV for gold and fabulous prizes! Xcrawl takes place on a dystopian alternative Earth where America is a dictatorship using a live on pay-per-view death sport to avert the attention of the masses from the hopelessness of their political and social situation. Players assume the roles of athletes who participate in the hugely popular death sport Xcrawl, which pits players against an artificially crafted dungeon, complete with traps, monsters and amazing loot. Every dungeon has a diabolical DJ, the dungeon designer and master of ceremonies, to bedevil the adventurers at every turn. Win and become a celebrity, or loose and die – that’s Xcrawl!

Creating Your Own Contestant (HERO System)

You will need a copy of the HERO System rules.
Fantasy Hero Complete or
Narosia are probably your best bets for fantasy flavor, but
Champions Complete or the core
HERO System 6E Rules will do just fine. Even
HERO Basic should get you pretty far.
  1. Grab a character sheet below (FORM is a form-fillable PDF)
  2. Download the Draft Rules
  3. Determine your Division & starting points (Standard Division III characters usually start at 160-180 points).
  4. Pick a race
  5. Pick a class
  6. Decide on your complications (typically 30 points worth):
    1. Personality: what kind of a person are you?
    2. Signature Style during the crawl: how do you act; what will you do/not do?
    3. Backstage Issue: how much trouble are you off camera?
  7. Don’t forget equipment.

Current Status

Hero veterans should have no problem with what has already been put together. It isn’t quite ready for non-Hero players to just grab a copy of the HERO Rules and start a campaign, but it won’t be long. I have most of the classes done, need to make a few notes on skills, talents, and perks, and then we should be all set. Most of the hard stuff is done (although the Messenger is looking to be the most work).
